TERRANCE FRANK LAZAROFF, CD, BFA

Teapot inspired by Fong Choo

ABOUT Terrance

This will be in a solo show of my teapots during May 2012 at a local boutique in Montreal. I will post more information next spring.

The teapot was inspired by Fong Choo, a noted potter working in the United States of America.

ABOUT THIS PIECE

The teapot was thrown using cone six porcelain stoneware. Real porcelain must be fired to a much higher temperature.

I threw the body of the teapot as a closed form and later made the opening for the lid. Using the closed formed helped me when rounding our the body.  I also started to play with the handles during this series.  I remembered the workshop given by Takesha Yasuda, when I was at Sanbao in 2003.

The teapot measured approximately 4" by 6" high. so it is about the size on a man's fist. The surface decoration was by brush using pigments and oxides on the green-ware. The piece was then thrown and glazed with a crystal clear, transparent, glaze.
